Our client, an industry leading manufacturer in downtown Nashville, is looking to add a Sr. Tax Associate to their team as they continue to grow. The Senior Tax Associate is a new role in the Tax Department reporting directly to and supportive of the VP Tax with a work life balance. The job responsibilities include (but not all inclusive): tax compliance, indirect sales tax review, tax account maintenance and special projects. This position maintains a 40-hour work week required to be present in the Nashville office 3 days with the option of remote work or in-office the other 2 days per week. The Tax Department’s clients are internal within the business areas. The business operations and transactions affect the Tax Department, projects may be requested offering the Senior Tax Associate firsthand knowledge on the innerworkings of our corporate business.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of Federal and state direct income tax workpaper documentation and support from multi-system data mining.
• We outsource most of the tax compliance; the Tax Department operates without tax software.
• Preparation of state and local income tax apportionment tax workpapers.
• Code all tax payments and tax professional fee invoices for Accounts Payable department.
• Review and approve all monthly sales & local tax returns and vouchers.
• Collaborates with the Indirect Tax Manager.
• Provide Registered Agent with all annual report information and filings for US and Canada.
• Monthly maintenance and reconciliations of general ledger Direct Tax accounts.
• Maintain Federal and State income tax matrix, adjustments, and journal entry write up as required.
• Support and assist VP Tax in resolution of Tax Authority indirect and direct tax notices.
• Coordinate online income tax payments with multiple state/federal agencies as directed by VP of Tax.
• Assist in maintaining a few hundred multiple entity online Tax Authority website accounts, for any name changes, account closures / openings, etc.
• Indirect Tax consulting support for e-commerce business for future e-commerce launches.
• Assist Indirect Tax on keeping timely deadlines with business licenses, gross receipts taxes tracker and filings.
• Assist VP Tax (but not manage) and local global offices to prepare quarterly and annual transfer pricing calculations and filings.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• CPA certification a plus.
• Intermediate level or above MS Office Excel skills.
• Experience with Bloomberg Tax Depreciation software and understanding of fixed asset depreciation.
• Experienced in Direct Income Tax compliance knowledge that can be applied without software.
• Experience with AvaTax and Avalara ECM (formerly CertCapture) a plus.
• Minimum of 4 years of Direct Income Tax experience.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well independently, in a team environment and with remote employees.
