Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Engineer/Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

The following are required, but not limited to, for the position:

• Lead, supervise, and manage junior engineering and support staff in day-to-day department operations.
• Conduct and manage construction materials testing projects including report preparation and review.
• Conducting and supervising construction materials testing per the applicable standard (ASTM, ASHTO, DOT, ACI, etc.)
• Develop and perform CMT and IBC Special Inspections scope of service per project requirements.
• Develop and follow project budgets and schedules.
• Be proficiency in reading and developing construction plans and specifications.
• Manage and review laboratory analysis of soil and construction material samples.

Skills and Qualifications

• Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil, construction or geotechnical engineering. Candidates with Master's degree and/or MBA will be prioritized in selection.
• PE license in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida or ability to obtain state licensure within three months of employment is required.
• Candidate must have a minimum 7 years of experience in CMT and IBC Special Inspections. 
• Candidates with strong communication skills (written and oral), demonstrated managerial and project management experience, and ability to develop positive client relationships are preferred.
• Physical activities including walking through uneven difficult terrain, long spans of standing and ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Up to 30% overnight travel should be anticipated.
