Fashion Design and Production Internship Opportunity

Bibhu Mohapatra is a prestigious New York based luxury women's wear fashion brand specializing in couture and ready-to-wear, is seeking dedicated Design Interns to join our team. This internship offers a unique chance for both full-time and part-time roles (3-5 days per week) and is scheduled to start in June 2024. We invite individuals eager to gain valuable experience in a dynamic and innovative company.

Job Type: Internship, unpaid, academic credit offered.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough concept, market, and mood research.
• Source fabrics and trims.
• Assist with pattern copying.
• Support the design team pre and post NYFW.
• Manage pickups and drop-offs.
• Assist in private client fittings and muslin fittings including the shows.
• Engage in hand sketching and rendering of styles.
• Participate in print development using Photoshop.
• Help issue fabrics, embroideries, prints, and style tech packs to mills and factories.

Requirements:

• Background in fashion designing, art, or design major/BFA.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Must commit to at least 3 days a week.
• Unpaid internship with academic credit offered.
• Minimum required internship hours weekly: 24.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working at a fashion brand.
• Knowledge of fabrics, pattern making, and hand sketching.
• Efficiency and organization.
• Strong communication skills.
• Understanding of textile development and sewing.
