JOB TITLE: Match Support Specialist – Community Based Team 

LOCATION: Bellevue WA

DEPARTMENT: Programs – Community Based 

REPORTS TO: Lead Match Support Specialist 

PAY RANGE: $50,000 - $52,000 annually, paid as an hour wage DOE 4 weeks of vacation leave along with 12 sick days and 2 personal days per year, 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, and long-term disability for employees, access to LinkedIn Learning Professional Development, 401(k) with employer match, and EAP; access to onsite workout facility. 

WORK SCHEDULE: Hybrid, 2 days onsite & 3 days remote and alternating weeks 3 days onsite & 2 days remote. 

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Full-time

JOB SUMMARY:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is looking for a Match Support Specialist who will thrive in an environment that is dedicated to serving more youth through high quality one-to-one mentoring. The match support specialist will positively impact our community through supporting volunteers, parents and youth in our Community Based program. The match support specialist is responsible for matching volunteer mentors with youth and maintaining contact with matched pairs to ensure a successful and viable mentoring relationship. This role supports our organizational goal of helping all youth reach their inherent potential, especially youth who are disproportionally impacted by systematic barriers. Evening hours are required with some weekend hours required for events and activities. People from diverse communities are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and supports caseload through entire process while maintaining comprehensive and professional documentation to assure accountability, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Initiates ongoing enhancements to agency practices.
  • Assists in the adapting and delivering training for our volunteers.
  • Promotes and maintains cooperative working relationships with community organizations.
  • Through scheduled in-person, telephone and electronic contact, ascertains that the elements of youth protection, match relationship development, positive youth outcomes and customer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.
  • Assesses individual training needs, information and support needs for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and a successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.
  • Ensures high-level proficiency in applying youth protection and risk management knowledge, as well as policies and procedures throughout all aspects of the job function.
  • Conducts exit interviews, with all parties, at match closure. Assesses reasons for match closure and re-match or re-engagement potential. When match terminates, pre-maturely or unexpectedly.
  • Establishes, monitors and meets goals for youth outcomes, quality measures, expanding impact of youth served, support contact compliance, and excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates with other departments to identify possible partnerships, promotes agency events, and provides support for other efforts as necessary.
  • Plan and deliver specific programming to achieve optimal youth outcomes. Examples of such work could include working with youth experiencing foster care, career exploration or working with youth from specific marginalized communities.
  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of new staff training sessions and development of training materials for new match support specialists.
  • Provide input on solutions for improvements in programming, workflow or policy.
  • Plan and support activities and events for matches.
  • Evaluate and provide program data regarding match support activities and outcomes.
  • Use MatchForce and other program data to ensure high level of compliance with agency standards of practice, impact and quality goals.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with preference given to human services, education or similar; or Associate's Degree with 4 years of relevant experience; or 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Required to communicate (verbally and written) in English.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends on a consistent basis
  • Access to reliable automobile, valid driver’s license, auto insurance required
  • Understanding of child development and family dynamics
  • Understanding of issues/barriers that impact children and families from underserved populations.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other staff
  • Ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently exercising good judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with confidential information required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person and via the telephone

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Phone time: 95% of work will be spent on the phone contacting volunteers, parent/guardians, and Littles.
