Retail Controller

Overview:

Big George's Home Appliance Mart is a 3rd generation family business specializing in residential appliance goods. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Controller with a strong background to lead our accounting team. As a pivotal member of our management, you will drive financial strategy, ensure accurate reporting, and provide valuable insights to support our company's growth trajectory and profitability. Responsibilities:

• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
• Financial Reporting - Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Risk Management - Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial best practices.
• Oversee tax planning and compliance activities, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns. Collaborate with external tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax efficiency.
• Coordinate external audits and reviews, providing audit support and ensuring compliance with audit and tax requirements.

Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and 3 years in management role
• Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP; experience within retail space of large home products industries is welcomed.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software; 5 years experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) using SQL systems within the company's ERP use of NetSuite to ensure accurate reporting and optimize financial modules.
• Experience with Health Benefits, Liability, Workers Compensation & General Insurance negotiations
• Familiarity with human resources, employee relations, and review systems (ADP)
• Report to sales, operation and purchasing leadership on their metrics
• Establish and review metrics for company's standard operating processes
• Review Turns, Vendor Margins, Aging and overall inventory performance
• Prepare and present Sales analysis for Sales MGR reviews.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
