Description

The Role: BigHat Biosciences is seeking an exceptional, self-motivated Scientist I/II with a strong background in immunology, antibody therapeutic development and/or cell-based assay development to support the expansion of BigHat’s pipeline of novel therapeutics. This individual will drive assay development and cell line management to support internal antibody discovery efforts. Additionally, this individual will work closely with the Associate Director of Platform Technology and the Translational Group to help develop, expand, and prioritize our preclinical pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize cell-based functional assays utilizing a variety of techniques including flow cytometry, ELISA, and other molecular and cellular biology methods to assess antibody binding, kinetics, stability, and target engagement to support and scale up BigHat’s discovery efforts.
  • Collaboratively design ambitious proof of concept experiments to guide strategy of novel target discovery campaigns.
  • Lead efforts to onboard, expand, and optimize cell growth conditions, from transfection through productivity screening.
  • Optimize and transfer cell-based functional assays to a high-throughput, production-grade format.
  • Contribute to the advancement of our platform by exploration and implementation of innovative methodologies and technologies.
  • Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and generate actionable insights to drive project decision-making.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally between Programs, Data Science, and Machine Learning team members to ensure streamlined data capture, collection, and processing.
  • Effectively and regularly synthesize and communicate results and research activity to key decision makers and the broader BigHat team.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • PhD in Immunology, Biology, Chemistry, or similar field, with 1 years of industry experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cell line establishment, maintenance and manipulation, preferably in the context of cancer immunotherapy.
  • Proven track record of developing and optimizing complex cellular and molecular assays for immuno-oncology targets, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and functional assays.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using relevant software and statistical tools including readily learning new software tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with T cell engagers, antibody-drug conjugates, and/or multispecific antibodies.
