Under the direction of a registered radiologic technologist or radiologist, operates radiographic equipment to obtain ordered radiographs consistent with department radiographic routines and procedures. In doing so, positions patients, adjusts equipment for proper exposure settings and processes images following the procedure. Performs limited radiographic procedures according to Montana State permit limitations.

Essential Job Functions

•Supports and models behaviors consistent with themission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
•Ensures radiological services provided are in compliancewith standards established by the institution, state and according to limitedpermit State statute.
•Performs non-complex procedures and radiographs usingthe appropriate department routine as ordered. Performs examinations using allthe general radiographic equipment. Ensures that all exams are checked by theregistered radiologic technologist for critique and approval.
•Prepares the room, equipment and supplies as dictated bythe particular examination or patient needs and processes the necessaryradiographs.
•Prepares the patient for the examination by ensuring thepatient is attired properly, explains the examination to the patient andtransfers and positions the patient as needed. Demonstrates awareness ofradiation safety for patients, self and co-workers. Assists the patient at theend of the examination.
•Informs management, lead technologist, or registeredrad. tech of any unusual concerns, situations or conditions relative to staff,patients and physicians. Assists with the Quality Improvement program, assistswith technique chart and stocks and cleans their assigned room daily. Maintainsadequate inventory of all required supplies by informing appropriate personnelfor acquisition
•Performs a variety of clerical and filing tasks, asrequired, such as working up patients, image file maintenance, and completingthe appropriate paper work following each examination
•May float to various departments, clinics and off sitefacilities to fulfill staffing needs.
•Identifies need and sets goals for own growth anddevelopment; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
•Maintains competency in all organizational, departmentaland outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevantto job performance.
•Performs other duties as assigned or need to meet theneeds of the department/organization.
