Expected Hours of Work: (include any mandatory meeting times with time zone) 40 hours a week M-F (9-5 or 8-4) in office
Summary/ObjectiveThe Application Scientist will support and lead method development using novel PWR technology, in a variety of applications, including drug discovery, protein interaction, and etc.
DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and lead method development using novel PWR technology, in a variety of applications, including drug discovery, protein interaction, and etc
- Participate in internal and external collaborative meetings
- Provide user experience; contribute to software and hardware development
- Lead routine maintenance of lab and instrument
- Work closely and communicate effectively with team members and external collaborators and customers
- Co-write and co-publish results with collaborators
- Knowledge in analytical chemistry, surface chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, protein sciences, molecular biology, especially assay development
- Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry instruments, including but not limited to chromatography, mass spectrometry, surface plasmon resonance, spectroscopy
- Knowledge and experience with label-free technology
- Experience with analytical techniques and assay validation is a plus
- May take part in assembly and maintenance of instrument
- May do any required testing of instrumentation (hardware or software, or otherwise management of instrumentation)
- BS/BA in chemistry or biochemistry with 2-5 years or advanced degrees with 0-2 years of professional experience
- Preferred qualification: Hands-on experience with optical instruments, surface plasmon resonance experience, customer facing experience
- Preferred qualifications: SPR
- May require occasional travel primarily within North America and China
- Attention to detail and an analytical mind
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Motivation to excel in both individual and team environments
- Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook...)
- Lab equipment and related software
- Ability to remain in a stationary position; move; operate and use required equipment; and reach items
- Ability to move/transport up to 30 lbs., and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to communicate, converse with others, and exchange information
