Lilly is in a period of accelerated capital spend to achieve our overall goals, but this requires meticulous oversight to ensure long term margin and competitiveness remains intact. The Associate Director – Global Capital Process role will report to the Associate Vice President, Manufacturing Finance - Capital Controller, and is part of a corporate finance team that has responsibility for planning (Business and Strategic Plans), forecasting, reporting, general controllership, and project work for Lilly’s Global Capital Plan.

Key Objectives
  • Develop and implement global best practices for an enterprise with multi-billion annual capital spend for financial metrics, reporting, and management reporting.
  • Leverage connections with similar organizations for benchmarking and best practice development.
  • Understand capital delivery and construction management processes.
  • Strategic financial support and analysis for pre-announced major capital projects and new sites until local teams are staffed driving decisions with Board of Director level investments ($200M and above) and long term Company implications.
  • Lead all aspects of capital investments through internal and external benchmarking. Influence project teams and management partners to ensure performance on capital efficiency.
  • Build relationships with project management teams to understand financial project risks and education on financial matters.
  • Ensure appropriate financial funding across all global capital projects, corporate financial reporting, and external auditors, and accounting and policies are reflected in capital estimates and actuals. Ensuring appropriate accounting and policies for major capital projects globally has an impact of hundreds of millions of dollars across balance sheet and P/L.
  • Advise teams on financial needs for investments in new jurisdictions and major capital projects.
  • Lead cross functional team of new site finance teams on a wide range of business and accounting situations, ensuring compliance to financial and accounting policies.
  • On-board, train, and lead new site finance teams with respect to appropriate governance and financial processes ensuring alignment with global playbooks and standards
  • Partner with Manufacturing Strategy and other cross-functional business partners on project work.
  • Handle Special Projects requiring financial analysis, tax incentives analysis, and benchmarking and making recommendations to senior executives or project teams.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or related business area and seven (7) years of experience in finance, controllership, and/or accounting areas with prior experience specifically in manufacturing finance or capital controls preferred
OR
  • MBA with five (5) years of relevant work experience in financial controllership or manufacturing related areas

Additional Preferences
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong technical/analytical background, including planning/forecasting/reporting experience.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to lead and influence others, especially in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong technical skills, including with Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, and Business Objects, and willingness to adapt to and use new technologies.
  • Strong desire to learn and intellectually curious.
