Responsible for managing and coaching a team focused on new diagnostic specimen kit launches. Coordinates the design of new kit configurations, sourcing of printed products, artwork development and creative services, procurement of samples, building and distribution of kit samples, development of bill of materials (BOMs) and other related activities associated with finding creative solutions for our global life science customer base. Provides oversight and prioritization of projects of varying sizes for both new and existing customers throughout the entire product development life cycle (ideation, validation, first-article, launch). Accountable for monitoring, improving, developing, and overseeing initiatives to improve speed and quality of work through optimized processes, creative solutioning, as well as collaborating with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and Coach the Team
    • Implement Product Development vision, strategy, and standards in alignment with goals set by management
    • Increase turnaround time and quality of key functions to internal customers (i.e. estimates, BOMs, artwork files, assembly instructions, etc.)
    • Prioritize incoming projects, tasks, and deliverables and monitor/track activities
    • Ensure quality checks are incorporated into each phase of Product Development Associate’s work
    • Lead the Product Development team in all phases
    • Train new Product Development team members
    • Develop, monitor and communicate Product Development KPIs to business leaders
  • Develop Innovative Products:
    • Develop new specimen collection kits based on the specific requirements of the customer
      • Finalize Bill of Materials, product labeling and kit components for new kits or kit variations
      • Coordinate artwork design and revisions between customer, sales team and vendors
      • Coordinate design, setup artwork, obtain pricing and lead times for all marketing materials to include print and promotional items when requested from sales team or customer
      • Coordinate new item set up with Purchasing to ensure accurate pricing, quantities and availability for customer
      • Configure kits, labels, and create assembly instructions for each kit, working in collaboration with operations and distribution on best practices
      • Set up new items accurately in Netsuite system
    • Provide consultative suggestions/alternatives to exhibit creative solutions
    • Identify and develop continuing education opportunities in industry trends
    • Ensure kits meet appropriate transportation regulations
  • Enhance and Invest In Key Relationships
    • Build and develop relationships with current and potential suppliers
    • Procure and obtain pricing for items needed for kits and marketing materials
    • Negotiate pricing and terms needed to assist sales team in closing new business based on the customers target price needed or competitive market prices
    • Effectively communicate with sales team and customer to identify customer pain points and present final solution
    • Update and train sales team on products, processes and shipping regulations
  • These responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be modified or added at any time based on the needs of the company

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 3 years experience in management, preferably managing a project team
  • Bachelor’s degree required. (Project management, Engineering, Operations or Related fields preferred)
  • Product Management Experience. (PMP certificate preferred)
  • Experience in manufacturing of custom products preferred
  • Experience in medical products industry preferred
  • Proficient in basic Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Wrike® and NetSuite™ experience is preferred
  • All prospective employees must pass a background and drug check
