Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-paced team in Denver, CO. As a member of our small engineering team, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining our platform. Our tech stack includes PHP and React. Ideally you’ll have experience in those languages. But, it’s more important that you are a full-stack engineer who is: comfortable in any object-oriented language, familiar with modern frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, and Vite), and are able to serve as a communication point for the front end and back end to ensure our software works to delight users and hit business goals. This role will work out of our Denver HQ on a hybrid schedule, Tuesday-Thursday in-office.

Responsibilities:

• Build, improve upon & continuously maintain our Digital Food Farmacy, bringing scale, delight, and ease of use to our customers, while ensuring the security and integrity of their data
• Work with our product, design, nutrition, and other cross-functional teams to identify high-leverage products to help bitewell achieve its mission.
• Help lead delivery efforts of product efforts 
• Ensure code quality via unit tests and component tests

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or similar experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience programming in a production environment
• Clear understanding and demonstration of SOLID principles and modern design patterns
• Understanding of the principles of API design(REST)
• Proactively identifies and addresses performance bottlenecks in the codebase, optimizing algorithms, database queries, and frontend rendering to enhance application responsiveness and scalability.
• Proficient in Laravel and React(or similar frameworks), with deep knowledge of full stack software development
• Can design, develop, ship, and maintain medium-sized features autonomously.
• Independently implement clear, concise, and tested code.
• Can devise proposals to solve ambiguous problems, seeking validation through proof of concepts, data, tests, and research.
• Can effectively create or co-create engineering designs to meet project requirements.
• Willing to take responsibility for successful project delivery, including planning, risk management, development, testing, rollout, and maintenance, focusing on improving code health and quality.

• Masters degree in Computer Science or Mathematics
• Actively mentors junior engineers, sharing expertise in Laravel and React through pair programming sessions, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Pursues ongoing learning opportunities to stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices, experimenting with new tools and frameworks to improve efficiency and advance the development process.
• Previous work in a healthcare, benefits, or wellness-focused company.
