Position Summary:

Bituminous Roadways, Inc. is looking to add Quality Control Lab Technicians to our Quality Control Department. This is a lab-oriented position within the QC department that focuses on proper procedures and specifications by obtaining core material samples and then testing them.

This is a key position to ensure the overall Quality of our work on each and every job. Be proud of the work you do and the projects you support! Some well-known projects we have completed around town include TCO Performance Center / Minnesota Vikings (Eagan), TCF Bank Stadium, Target Field (MN Twins), Scheels Sports Store (Eden Prairie).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
  • Safely obtain representative material samples from project sites, aggregate stockpiles, AC sample valves and sample racks.
  • Ability to operate a bituminous core drill rig to obtain core samples for analysis.
  • Perform construction material tests using a variety of equipment; accurately and efficiently.
  • Input test data timely and accurately into spreadsheets.
  • Prepare and report material test results to QC/QA Manager immediately upon completion of testing.
  • Execute and implement QC actions as directed and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform laboratory equipment maintenance, repairs & calibrations as needed to keep it functional and working correctly.
  • Obtain and maintain MnDOT technical certifications.
  • Accurate and concise communication with supervisors, plant operators, superintendents and foremen.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with QA agencies, inspectors and colleagues.
  • Other duties to be assigned as needed

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Maneuver a trailer with pickup truck & operate a bituminous core drill rig.
  • Basic math concepts
  • Construction materials sampling & testing
  • Lift 50-70 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Willing to learn and be trained

Other Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.
