Job SummaryResponsible for providing superior technical support to all manufacturing departments by performing accurate and timely tool installations & service calls to ensure the production of high-quality powder metal products in the most efficient manner possible.
Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities
- 1. Performs simple to complex tool installations in a timely manner on a variety of compaction & sizing presses as well as the auxiliary equipment supporting them for all manufacturing departments.
- 2. Initiates process improvements as required by demonstrating a high degree of knowledge on all compacting and sizing presses.
- 3. Proficiency in molding powdered metal parts in multi-level mechanical & hydraulic compacting presses.
- 4. Operates and adjusts machines until target parameters for parts have been achieved and seeks to minimize reject rate.
- 5. Is responsible for performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of compacting and sizing tooling and machines.
- 6. Working knowledge and understanding of P/M tooling.
- 7. Responsible for taking the lead facilitator role within a focus group when appointed to do so. Serves as are source to others in the resolution of complex pressing/coining problems in applicable areas.
- 8. Responsible for providing effective training to other employees by sharing skills and knowledge when required. Genuine mentor abilities.
- 9. Generates detailed tool damage reports & participates in tooling damage reviews with tooling engineers, other die setters and maintenance personnel.
- 10. Uses established methods and software for labor reporting, SPC, capability studies and workload management.
- 11. Responsible for providing effective communication within all manufacturing departments and other applicable personnel.
- 12. Handle all applicable powder handling responsibilities. This includes retrieving powder from inventory, loading powder into the presses & Plex MIS, cleaning the powder delivery system on the presses and removing scrap powder or unused powder from the presses.
- 13. Follows all established safety rules such as LOCK OUT/TAG OUT procedures and maintains a high degree of safety awareness at all times.
- 14. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
- 15. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of DSB Technologies which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- 16. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Required Preferred 2 years related experience and/or training.
- Required Preferred Technical degree or equivalent manufacturing experience in tool and die, setup, or maintenance. Skills
- Required Preferred Strong understanding of mechanics, mechanisms, fasteners, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Required Preferred Proficiency in reading blueprints that include details, assemblies, die space, stackup lengths and other information needed for press setup.
- Required Preferred Understanding of lean principles especially as related to molding & coining press tool installations and process flow.
- Required Preferred Proficiency with all established measurement techniques using vernier and digital scales, calipers, micrometers, height gages, optical comparators, and other part specific hard gages.
