Responsibilities

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The Department of Ambulatory Services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of the multidisciplinary staff of BJH Ambulatory Services including responsibility for the GI Labs, Minor Procedure Center, Pain Management Center, Diabetes Center, Resident Clinics, Wound/Ostomy Center and other services as assigned. This department assures that all customers receive the highest level of attention and prompt, courteous service.

Qualifications

Role Purpose

Serves as the primary contact and liaison between patient care areas, ancillary and support departments within the organization. Interacts with all levels of management to coordinate business, administrative and non-patient care operational activities. Supervises staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Coordinates non-patient care operations of assigned areas through integration with other departments.
  • Supervises and provides continuous training for staff.
  • Facilitates acquisition of supplies, equipment and services throughout hospital departments.
  • Plans, develops, recommends and coordinates processes and strategies to identify revenue opportunities.

    Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience

  • 2-5 years
  • Supervisor Experience

  • < 2 years
  • Preferred Requirements
