Black Hawk County is Hiring a CONSERVATION NATURALIST I Near Waterloo, IA

JOB
Under general supervision of the Nature Center Manager, assist Naturalists in planning and presenting programs for the public, schools, youth groups and civic groups; and with all other aspects of the environmental education program including resource maintenance.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned tasks.Assists with keeping building, including gift shop, open and accessible on Sundays.Designs and performs educational activities as assigned by supervisor, includes hauling equipment and/or materials to the activity site (may require pulling a trailer).Transports program participants driving an 6-15 passenger van to the activity site.Assists with providing routine building, trail and natural resource maintenance; includes occasionally operating a variety of small machinery/equipment such as utility terrain vehicles, snow blowers, mowers, and chainsaws.Researches, writes, and reviews written material (flyers, brochures, notices, articles, and booklets); Publishes digital content to website and social media sources.Oversees the training and other activities of interns and volunteers.Participates in the facility's special events; Completes special projects and performs related duties as assigned.Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.Maintains a positive and professional impression in all correspondence, appearance, and language.Provides information and assistance to visitors, answers inquiries for the general public.Assists with the maintenance of specimen collection including live animal husbandry.Promotes and maintain the volunteer program.Other duties as assigned.Supervision is received from the Nature Center Manager, or other designated official.Functional supervision is exercised over various student interns, volunteers and other workers as available.
