A DAY IN THE LIFE Performs repairs on all types of equipment and work tools. Operates equipment to diagnose problems and inspects equipment for defects. Assists supervisors, co-workers with a variety of mechanic, and related tasks as necessary. Highly aware of safety precautions, policies, and procedures and is able to assist management in maintaining a safe work environment. Works under limited supervision and is able to locate, identify, and use service manuals, procedures, schematics, and other sources of technical info. WHAT YOU’LL NEED Mechanical and fabrication knowledge usually obtained through a 2 yr. post-secondary degree or equivalent combinations of training and/or related experience. Three or more years of knowledge of maintenance procedures and tooling obtained through previous work experience in mechanic and light welding. WHAT WILL SET YOU APART Valid Commercial Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Must be familiar with welding and fabrication techniques and equipment such as torches, welders, band saw and plasma cutter. Must have own assortment of hand tools.
