Economic Research Assistant
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Research Assistant will have the responsibility for completing projects and assignments on the advocacy team for emergent economic research requests. Typical deliverable development involves collecting data for reports and policy briefs, researching existing and new economic policies, and conducting research on votes and policy positions of politicians. This position will report to the Research Manager of the Blue Collar Workforce Alliance, a partner of the Charles L. Shor Foundation.
About the Blue Collar Workforce Alliance
The Blue Collar Workforce Alliance (BCWA) is a new and non-partisan organization. Its focus is to advocate for policies, projects, and political candidates to fix the decreasing prosperity of American families, the decline of US manufacturing, and the ongoing US trade deficits. As a research assistant with the Blue Collar Workforce Alliance, you will be a key component of our economic team that advocates with politicians, as well as business and policy leaders, to bring more individuals and families into the middle class. The focus of BCWA is on the following issues:
BCWA is the economic and political advocacy branch of the Charles L. Shor Foundation, whose founder, Charlie Shor, is a retired Executive who employed over 2,500 across North America. While BCWA is permitted to endorse candidates and partake in other political advocacy activities, it is our practice to support candidates of any political affiliation whose goals, values, and initiatives align with those of BCWA. As such, the research assistant is expected to conduct their work in a way that supports the goals of BCWA without being biased by political affiliations. The goal is to provide easy to understand information based on professional research to influence policy, both locally and nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Assistant will report to the Research Manager of BCWA and be responsible for assisting the research team to produce organizational deliverables for its advocacy work. Specifically, the responsibilities of the position are the following:
