Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is hiring for a Credentialing Specialist to join our provider relations team. This position will be responsible for the prompt, courteous, accurate, and timely handling of incoming telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence from professional providers covering all lines of business regarding their recredentialing application. This position serves as a resource for internal staff and provider offices regarding questions related to credentialing.

Compensation
$19.81 - $23.50
Non-exempt Grade 11
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
  • Position is stationary involving telephoning or emailing providers to obtain required recredentialing applications, missing malpractice insurance certificates, or missing answers from disclosure questions on the recredentialing application.
  • Understanding mandatory credentialing requirements of URAC is essential in this position and will require completion of training and willingness to review URAC guidelines as necessary. Ability to process recredentialing application, reviewing application to ensure mandatory elements are answered, calling provider offices if information is lacking for the mandatory elements and using the internet to obtain primary source verification of required URAC elements.
  • Provides education and answers questions timely and accurately from providers or office personnel regarding credentialing requirements.
  • Responsible for reviewing active/inactive status of provider contracts prior to monthly recredentialing process.
  • Responsible for assisting providers with the recertification application process and documents in the system.
  • Ability to track multiple months of recredentialing activities to completion.
  • Responsible for imaging credentialing/recredentialing information.
  • Responsible for preparing confidential documents and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Independently determines best approach to solving problems.
  • Work requires the ability to focus on details with the ability to switch task and provider files and return to previous task for completion.
  • Minimal Lifting required. Position is mostly stationary, use of PC up to 70% of the workday. Phone up to 50% of the workday. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
What you need
  • High school graduate or equivalent required (additional education in communications, human relations, medical terminology, and business letter writing preferred).
  • Strong computer skills to operate effectively with company systems and programs. Will show proficiency in using Email, Internet, Intranet, and internal systems following training.
  • Good customer service skills, organizational skills, communication skills and the ability to work independently are necessary. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with providers including physicians, staff from provider offices, facilities and all levels of internal staff required.
  • Good human relation skills, positive attitude and be flexible to change required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and well under pressure to meet strict deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Bonus if you have
  • Proficient in the use of WORD and EXCEL preferred. A working knowledge of additional Microsoft Office Products helpful.
  • Proficient in using PES, Crystal, IPS, BluECM, CACTUS, and/or CAQH.
  • Working understanding of URAC auditing process and requirements.
  • Type 50 wpm strongly preferred and perform complete data entry rapidly and accurately using a personal computer.
