The role is part of the In-Space Systems (ISS) business unit and supports the Blue Ring program, which is focused on development, manufacturing, and operation of satellite systems to address one of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space mobility. As part of the Spacecraft Systems Engineering (SSE) team, you will be exposed to an environment that allows you to engage in rapid design/build iteration, work with a world-class team, and experience the full lifecycle from formulation to flight in a short time.
In this role, you will be responsible fordeveloping our fault management and system autonomy (FMSA) architecture with an emphasis on associated processes, products, and analyses over all mission phases.You will work with fault protection and system autonomy requirements development, testing, validation, and verification efforts. The position requires strong collaboration within the SSE team and across the entire program. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will contribute to innovative solutions while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence and judgement, and a commitment to the highest technical standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Establish and control fault management architectures including design principles and requirements
Define redundancy architecture, including cross-strapping and fault containment regions for integrated systems
Architect, design, and analyze autonomous behaviors, modes, and states
Plan and execute integrated system Fault Management and Autonomy Verification and Validation efforts
Monitor and approve fault management and autonomy design, development, and test
Drive process improvements with a sense of ownership and urgency

Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field
2 years of experience
Experience with systems engineering principles and processes as they relate to the development of a spacecraft
Demonstrated experience with fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety and mission critical systems
Experience with autonomous system design, analysis, and test
Experience with the lifecycle development of space systems, including requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operation
First principles knowledge of major spacecraft subsystems
Familiaritywith safety and mission assurance analyses including Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs)
Ability to form relationships with experts from varying engineering fields and provide constructive feedback about FMSA, safety, and reliability concerns
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Self-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
4 years of experience
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Knowledge of fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety and mission critical systems
Knowledge of autonomous system design, analysis, and test
Experience defining and performing complex trade studies
Experience with design, development, and certification ofspaceflight systems, avionics system architectures and designs, and radiation environments/effects
Experience with logical and physical architecture definition and decomposition
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
Compensation range for on-site CO applicants is $88,440-$123,816
Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $96,480-$135,072
Compensation range for on-site CA applicants is $96,480-$135,072
