Blue Origin is Hiring a Ground Systems Integration Engineer I (Early Career) Near Denver, CO

This role is a part of Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to Business Units with the focus on design, build and maintenance of the ground systems, test and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a small multi-functional team, you will design, implement, verify, and integrate critical hardware and software across the New Glenn ground and marine subsystems! You will be responsible for the full life-cycle of software components that monitor and control the launch vehicle and supporting ground control systems. In this hands-on position, you will collaborate with and support avionics subsystem owners, integration and test engineers, and operations personnel to design and integrate fully qualified software.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Generate plans for software and systems verification activities in the New Glenn Ground System Development Lab (GSDL) in FL and the Hardware-in-the-Loop Laboratory (HIL) in WA
  • Generate and maintain interface specifications for integrating PLCs into New Glenn Ground System
  • Generate test procedures and scripts to perform GSDL & HIL verification activities for the New Glenn Ground System
  • Generate operations products for the New Glenn Integrated Ground System (IGS) including scripts, procedures, panels, alert definitions, and derived telemetry definitions as needed to support the verification activities
  • Lead the performance of the test procedures and manage collection of results, along with subsequent reviews of test results to obtain approval
  • Support verification activities in the GSDL, HIL, and at the pad in support of airborne avionics and New Glenn ground systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of B.S. in electrical, aerospace, or software engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience with Allan Bradley PLCs
  • Experience developing software in C / C and/or Python
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for hands-on problem solving, software integration, and systems integration/testing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs
  • Ability to travel and work at remote sites supporting test integration, operations, and training
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years' experience developing/testing aerospace software and it's simulation environment
  • Experience with development of safety-critical systems (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.)
  • Experience with networking protocols (TCP/IPv4) for distributed systems, network security, data encryption, compression, etc.
  • Experience with embedded C/C , Allen-Bradley PLCs, Linux, or real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity with the following preferred tools: DOORS or DNG, Makefiles, Linker Scripts, Doxygen, Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Bash, and JIRA/Confluence

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $86,048-$120,466

Other site ranges may differ
