This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will work on designing and developing key mechanical ground systems for Blue Origin’s new launch site at LC-36 (Cape Canaveral, FL). You’ll have the unique opportunity to be part of a great team building the mechanical and structural systems and GSE (Ground Support Equipment) needed for Blue Origin’s giant rocket, New Glenn!
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Develop mechanical and structural design solutions to support various Launch Pad systems.
• Create CAD models and drawings, and provide FEA and hand-calcs for complex mechanical systems.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through complete project lifecycle, and oversee equipment fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing & activation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, structural, civil, or aerospace engineering (or similar discipline).
• 10 years experience with a background in design/analysis/construction of large and complex mechanical systems (i.e. mechanisms, launch vehicle GSE, aerospace tooling, oil/gas structures, movable structures, etc).
• Mechanical design experience using CAD (Creo/Windchill preferred), hand calculations and FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
• Experience designing and analyzing bolted and welded connections.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years direct experience in GSE design and analysis for aerospace industry.
• Mechanism design experience.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Supplier/vendor management experience.
