This role is a part of Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to Business Units with the focus on design, build and maintenance of the ground systems, test and launch facilities across multiple locations.
As part of a diverse and passionate team, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the development, design, and construction activities of New Glenn’s launch site infrastructure and it's supporting auxiliary sites located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The position is part of our ground support development organization which oversees and supports new construction projects along with its operations and maintenance.
This role requires working closely with our internal launch operations teams and system partners such as mission strategy, mission operations, electrical, mechanical, fluids, and command & control to define, manage, and execute scope.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Overseeing and scoping environmental regulatory planning and compliance such as NEPA Environmental Assessments, Environmental Baseline Surveys, SF 813 Environmental Impact Analysis, etc.
  • Support strategic program planning and impact assessments which include environmental and civil site development aspects.
  • Manage design and construction activities as a Blue Owner with focus on civil attributes.
  • Develop statements of work for engineering and construction activities.
  • Interface with internal and external mission and system leads to ensure scope is accurately defined and executed.
  • Execute design and construction activities given approved budget and schedule milestones, including management of applicable change orders.
  • Integration and de-confliction of construction activities with surrounding operations to ensure personnel, cost, and schedule impacts are mitigated.
  • Work closely with external contractors, vendors, fabricators, architects, and engineers.
  • Review design and construction documents for conformance to the overall design intent.
  • Review and approve pre-con and construction RFIs and submittals.
  • Support Blue Origin in the coordination and discussion efforts with external agencies such as Space Force for site planning, construction, permits, waivers, security, and site deliveries.
  • Identify and document risks and opportunities for a given project or scope.
  • Final review of non-conformances, dispositions, and/or rework while communicating cost and schedule impacts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 8 years of relevant experience in engineering or project management.
  • 3 years of relevant environmental and/or civil land develop experience.
  • Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds. Must be able to physically climb multiple flights stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Exceptional multitasker with a passion for organization and attention to detail.
  • Motivated self-starter with a great attitude and able to work independently without significant oversight and direction.
  • Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, and project planning skills.
  • High organizational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand technical plans, drawings, specifications, and modeling applications.
  • Experience with project scoping, budgeting, scheduling from both a day-to-day perspective as well as overall construction management.
  • Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative.
  • Familiar with standard construction procedures, best practices, means & methods, and work safety standards.
  • Experience working with government agencies on permitting, land use controls, and development.
  • Intermediate in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Candidate must be able to successfully apply for badging at a government installation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Civil engineering with focus on land development and planning.
  • Environmental regulatory technical research, preparation, and reporting.
  • Experience with Newforma Project Center.
  • Intermediate in Microsoft Projects or P6 Primavera.
  • Professional design experience in civil or environmental engineering.
