Senior Automation Specialist

Focus:

• Process Automation: Lead the development and implementation of automation solutions across various processes, optimizing efficiency and productivity.
• Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge in process automation, including system integration and control strategies.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of industry regulations and standards, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements in all automation initiatives.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to coordinate automation efforts and address operational challenges.
• Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all automation projects comply with safety and environmental regulations.
• Budget Management: Work alongside finance teams to effectively manage automation project budgets and resource allocation.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing automation processes, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering roles, with a focus on automation.
• Prior experience in the materials industry or related sectors is advantageous.
• Prior leadership experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Successful completion of Electrical Journeyman Training coupled with specialized training or certification from PLC or DCS system manufacturers.
• Proficiency in Plant Information Systems or other database storage and retrieval systems.
• Broad understanding of the scientific principles relevant to various processes involved in mining, mineral beneficiation, and processing, including comminution, flotation, and exothermic reactions.
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing automation projects.
• Proficiency in engineering software and project management tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
