Job Description

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Technical Writer to join our team, supporting a large program at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The main responsibility for this role is to provide senior-level technical writing functions for various types of documents.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and interpret applicable government standards, policies, and specifications for the development of technical documentation.
• Conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit, and finalize complex engineering specifications, engineering studies, and technical manuals.
• Develop functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, training materials, and installation guides.
• Prepare test plans, procedures, and results documentation.
• Assist in the development of proposals, reports, and program literature.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure technical veracity and compliance of the documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in technical writing or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a related field.
• Certification in Technical Writing or related discipline.
• Experience in federal contracting, preferably with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Proficiency in technical writing software tools and platforms.
• Strong ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts.

Eligibility:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $75,000.
