Bluebirds & Blooms is a 501(c)3 organization based in Edina, MN. Our mission is centered on creating joy and connection for those living in care communities through the gift of flowers. Everyday, millions of beautiful flowers are discarded from stores, events, weddings and funerals. Our team of amazing volunteers repurpose these donated flowers into cheerful bedside bouquets that are delivered personally for a moment of hope and encouragement. We deliver over 30,000 arrangements annually and are excited to bring on an individual to help us manage and grow this joyful program.

Position Description: We are seeking an individual to coordinate and support our volunteers, as well as assist with the day-to-day programmatic operations at our office, the Nest. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Volunteer Coordination

• Manage the volunteer program, including responding to volunteer inquiries, on-boarding, scheduling, and on-going communications with our volunteers.
• Coordinate volunteer trainings with the support of shift leaders and well-versed volunteers, and complete all administrative onboarding tasks.
• Continually assess volunteer program processes and work to make the system as efficient and seamless as possible.
• Manage the monthly volunteer calendar and schedule.
• Coordinate volunteer appreciation events with the Program Manager.
• Manage, coordinate and schedule all floral donation inquiries, pickups, and floral supply donation requests.
• Assist with flower donation pickups, including funeral, wedding, and grocery store pickups, as needed.
• Manage shop supply inventory and order supplies, as needed, and assist with shop upkeep.
• Fill in for Program Manager on arranging days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) when needed.
• Facilitate and support volunteer events, including on-site and off-site corporate team building events. Assist in recruiting volunteers to help with events, and volunteers to deliver flowers post-event

Misc.

• Deliver bouquets to communities, as needed
• Sharing information on the Bluebirds & Blooms mission including answering and responding to phone calls, emails, and visitors.
• Assist with fundraising activities, as needed.
• Various other administrative duties that may arise.

Work expectations:
The Volunteer Coordinator will be expected to work up to 25 hours/week, some of which may be managed remotely. The Nest is an active floral operation, which will require this position to be comfortable lifting and moving boxes of flowers, vases, and other items. In addition, s/he may be required to drive to communities we serve, and will be required to periodically work evenings and weekends to support events and/or misc. special activities. This position reports to the Program Manager.

Compensation:
We offer an hourly rate of $25/hour, as well as paid vacation.

• Mission driven
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Prior experience managing volunteers preferred
• Valid drivers license and vehicle required
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Willingness to travel within the Twin Cities metro to facilitate events and pick up or deliver flowers as needed
