POSITION: Warehouse Manager
REPORT TO: General Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
WORKING HOURS: Full Time, Shift may vary, Overtime as needed

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will oversee and monitor all operations, functions, and employees working in the warehouse department. This will be done in a professional manner, paying special attention to: production, employee issues, quality, communication, safety, and concerns the overall efficiency of our plant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including, but not limited to, the following:

RECEIVING:
  • Coordinate the receiving of any ingredients, supplies, and/or materials that come to the warehouse
loading and unloading docks,
  • Properly notify department heads and/or other inventory control personnel when they have deliveries,
  • Investigate all “No Show” orders,
  • Monitor truck inspections.
  • Coordinate documentation of receiving materials and maintaining proper and timely paper channels,

SHIPPING:
  • Coordinate the filling of all orders, the staging of product, and communicating with dispatch,
  • Work with corporate office marketing department on current and delayed ordering of product,
  • Coordinate the counting of physical inventories,
  • Assist with arranging trucking for the return of product,
  • Control and monitor proper and timely paper trail for all invoices/shipments,
  • Monitor warehouse staging areas,
  • Monitor proper pallet exchange program, ordering in pallets and shipping out pallets when needed,

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Communicate with the QA Manager and General Manager on the release of product.
  • In charge of aseptic, cheese, and powder shipping and receiving warehouses and loading personnel.
  • Monitor pallet exchange program, as well as daily supervision of pallet inspection/classification.
  • Coordinate the receiving and sending of all UPS or Federal Express package
  • Coordinate warehouse sanitation and housekeeping.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the driveway and the grounds around the plant.

  • PRODUCTION / SERVICE
  • Responsible for all duties and responsibilities of all warehouse direct reports,
  • Train, retain, develop, and monitor all employees that work in the warehouse department.
    • Responsible to provide training/cross training of employees
    • Responsible for the warehouse department payroll, vacation requests,
    • Complete weekly schedules understanding efficient/effective use of man-hours to control overtime.
    • Hold people accountable to doing their jobs.
  • Responsible for scheduling and maintaining an accurate and efficient inventory system.
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of finished goods,
    • Work with other departments in ordering, receiving, and monitoring the usage of materials, ingredients, chemicals, and supplies
  • Call in and follow up on the prompt issuance and completion of work orders.
    • Work with maintenance on a preventative maintenance program
    • Help to minimize downtime
    • Troubleshoot to improve overall efficiency.
  • Be on call and come in to the plant as needed, which may include any time outside of the normal shift and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • QUALITY

  • Maintain a good working relationship with suppliers, employees, and customers,
  • Maintain a high level of appearance and pride within the department.
  • Play an active role to inspect, review, and follow up on all plant and department audits.
  • Responsible for identifying and addressing any food safety hazards. In the event that a food safety hazard is identified, the employee is to notify their supervisor, a member of Quality, or a member of the Leadership Team. Employees are empowered to immediately address a food safety hazard if they have the ability.
  • Responsible for attending all required safety and food safety training.
  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
  • Emphasize, train, and comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Enforce and train the warehouse department on all company and department policies and procedures, including attendance, safety and discipline.
  • Promptly report occurrences observed or addressed during this shift to the proper department head and/or plant manager.
  • Continually monitor progress, performance, and capabilities of staff with consistent and realistic expectations.
  • Observe the moral and understand its impact on other departments.
  • Understand EEOC employment practices and limit turnover by retaining qualified employees.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports.

    • Communicate with employees on a regular basis to explain changes/modifications and generally on how we run our business, listening to their concerns and communicating their ideas to management.

    • Provide timely and accurate information as requested at all levels of the organization.

    • SAFETY
    • Be an active participant in loss control and food safety.
    • Actively participate in the HAZMAT team and training, at a minimum for the operations level.
    • Promote safety, support, help solve, and understand all company safety policies and practices.
    • On a daily basis monitor plant conditions to create and maintain a “safe working environment”.
    • Conscientiously look for solutions and root causes to first reports of injury and near misses
    • Make recommendations for possible engineering controls or any other way to prevent future incidents.
    • Enforce all safety policies fair and consistently; investigate fact not fault.

    • Update, monitor, and keep current all LOTO, confined space, forklift, and other safety programs.
    • Oversee for proper completion of all work comp reports that occur during this shift, investigate, and be the person in charge of taking the employee to the hospital, if needed.
    • Be able to prioritize and timely process work orders as they relate to safety concerns.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Certificates and/or Licenses Required.

    The warehouse supervisor must understand (GMP) good manufacturing practices, (HACCP) hazard analysis critical control points, must work well with individuals, must be a team player at all levels of the organization, and must be willing to accept, at the operations level, a main role on the company emergency response team. Prior management experience is preferred, but not required, depending on other qualifications.
