Job Description

The Process Improvement Engineer initiates and coordinates the continuous improvement efforts of BCP. The Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and installation phases of new equipment and/or capital improvements intended to increase productivity, improve yield, and reduce operating costs. The Process Improvement Engineer ensures that adequate resources are procured and allocated to the completion of projects that will result in increased reliability of the Paint Line process and a reduction of unplanned production time losses. 

Key Focus Areas 

  • Responsible for initiating and leading process improvement efforts by coordinating employees (i.e., process improvement teams) to pinpoint and eliminate causes of lost productivity and yield. 
  • Designs, engineers, and modifies /installs existing and/or new (capital) equipment intended to increase productivity, improve yield, and reduce operating costs. 
  • Ensures that process improvement projects are completed on-time. 
  • Trains of employees in the operation and maintenance of newly installed or modified electrical or mechanical equipment, process instrumentation and process control systems. 
  • Ensures that Standard Operating Procedures are in place to govern production and maintenance activities Assists the Manufacturing Manager with verification activities to ensure that plant personnel are acting in accordance with such procedures. 
  • Establishes guidelines for spare part inventories. 
  • Ensures that the Maintenance Department has appropriate guidance to maintain adequate spare parts required to make immediate emergency repairs and prevent maintenance time losses. 
  • Responsible for choosing and qualifying external contractors to perform repairs, calibrations and/or equipment installations. 
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Managements systems in place at BCP. 
  • Responsible for communicating daily with all levels of employees to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals. 
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws. 
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree 

  • Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirements
