Job Description

Summary: The Retail Supervisor will manage, train, and direct employees operating at the south scale, metals and cans buildings, warehouse, bailer, and outside storage area. The incumbent should demonstrate an ability to work with all levels of organization and customers. The supervisor will be a goal-oriented leader willing to do what it takes to drive innovation throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will succeed in streamlining and creating efficiencies from start to finish.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Strictly adheres to BlueScope Recycling’s health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Ensures safe work practices and equipment are always used, and corporate safety policies, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines follow documentation, inspections, and current practices.
• Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
• Coordinates equipment and personnel to support daily operations.
• Monitors and inspects allocated department equipment to ensure all assets work within stated guidelines.
• Reports all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions for maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor.
• Continuously coordinate with other area managers and staff to meet production metrics.
• Coordinate, direct, schedule, train, develop, support, and assess staff performance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED Certifications
• 1 years of experience in a scrap metal recycling yard 
• Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and other employees required. 
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Highly motivated and able to manage multiple activities, projects, and effectively communicate results
• Able to work independently and with a team
• Can operate in a fast paced, day to day operations work environment
• Process-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of supervisory experience
• Employee development, performance reviews, disciplinary action
