Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit
Location: Monroe, NC
Duration: 13-week contract
Shift: 12-hour night shifts

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical Unit is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This role involves direct and indirect patient care, ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team, and collaborating with other professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs, symptoms, and changes in condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Provide wound care, catheter care, and IV therapy.
• Assist with patient mobility and personal care.
• Communication:
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and post-discharge care.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work collaboratively with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and patient care conferences.
• Compliance and Safety:
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Follow infection control protocols and procedures.
• Documentation:
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient care.
• Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and timely.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Licensure and Certifications:
• Current RN license in the state of North Carolina.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a Medical Surgical unit.
• Experience with EMR systems, preferably EPIC.
