Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Northampton, MA

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 8-hour day shifts

Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, and stored according to established standards and procedures. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining a sterile environment in the healthcare facility to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities:

• Instrument Decontamination: Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using appropriate cleaning agents and procedures.
• Sterilization: Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and other sterilization methods. Ensure proper sterilization cycles are completed.
• Assembly and Packaging: Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and equipment in preparation for sterilization and distribution.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment. Report shortages and assist in restocking as needed.
• Quality Control: Perform routine quality control checks to ensure all instruments and equipment meet sterilization standards and are in good working condition.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, including load contents, sterilization parameters, and equipment maintenance logs.
• Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards, including OSHA, AAMI, and AORN guidelines.
• Communication: Collaborate with surgical team members and other healthcare staff to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and supplies.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing or a related field.
• Certification: Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CBSPD) preferred.
• Knowledge: Understanding of sterilization techniques, infection control principles, and surgical instrument handling.
• Skills: Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transport instruments and supplies, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
