We design and implement embedded software for electronic control units of the BMW cars as well as related tools and frameworks. By delivering software all the way from the idea to the final product we lead BMW into the future of digitalization and mobility.

We are searching for a hands-on automotive Functional Owner with passion for high quality software and innovative embedded software solutions. Our mission is to develop the central component for BMW Remote Software Upgrade. RSU performs the over-the-air updates to deliver feature improvements and functional enhancements to our BMW customers around the globe. We are looking for an experienced Functional Owner for the central update component. What awaits you?

• As a Functional Owner, you take end-to-end responsibility for the specification, implementation, and delivery into the project of the central update component.
• You work closely together with our in-house specialists and development teams.
• You coordinate functional scopes and collaborate with departments across BMW on a functional and technological level, as well as with external partners.
• You are responsible for the system validation, the approval and the release of the sub-functions. You define test-cases and you steer the system validation team.
• You report on the implementation progress and on the maturity grades.
• You analyze field problems and drive towards sustainable technical solutions.

What should you bring along?

• University degree in computer science or a comparable course of study.
• Profound experience in a similar function or related role, with a proven track record of successful function management or project management.
• System understanding of ECUs. Knowledge of update systems and ECU programming is a plus.
• Knowledge of modern E/E architectures and boardnet communication.
• Excellent communication and software project management skills.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
• Business fluency in English is a must. German is a plus.
