Job Description: Child Care Worker

The Bob Burdette Center is a nonprofit organization providing year-round afterschool services to children and youth grades K-5 on the West Side of Charleston, WV.
The Child Care Worker reports to the Site Coordinator and Program Director.
In this capacity, the Child Care Worker is responsible for supervising the children and helping them with homework, watching over them while they are at play, helping the certified teachers while the kids are in the classroom, managing a classroom of up to 16 students, teaching daily lessons as given by the Site Coordinator, and supervising during meals.
The Child Care Worker position is a part-time, at-will, non-exempt, hourly employee and will report directly to the Site Coordinator at the assigned site. Weekly hours average 25 hours per week but are flexible depending on how many hours you would like to work. Typical schedule is 1pm-5:30pm. Additional hours are possible - let your Site Coordinator know if you want extra hours.
The Child Care Worker duties, responsibilities and qualifications shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
Oversee homework groups to provide academic assistance and address any questions or concerns the student has regarding academic assignments
Lead and oversee activity programming that is provided for you by Site Coordinator
Supervise students, under the direction of the Site Coordinator, in all programming and gym-related activities
Attend all required staff meetings and staff trainings as directed
Assist with the daily programming (providing input as requested), supervision and coordination of projects and services
Provide positive leadership and serve as a role model to the students participating in the program
Other duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator, Program Director and Executive Director
Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D
Experience working with children and youth preferred
Must possess basic computer skills (Google Classroom, E-mail, Microsoft Word, iPad/iOS)
Must be physically able to stand and/or move around, fully engaged with the participants, throughout the entire shift
Accountability
The Child Care Worker shall be directly accountable to the Site Coordinator at the assigned site.
