DescriptionThe purpose of this job is to coordinate, deliver, and evaluate technical training activities that enable employees to meet defined performance objectives and support the organization's strategic initiatives. The individual in this role works collaboratively with subject matter experts and people leaders to develop and conduct training programs that are relevant to the needs of the business and reflective of best practices in the industry. A key activity of this role is detecting the training needs of internal customers and responding to those needs with solutions that are grounded in both instructional design and adult learning principles. This position reports to the Manager, Operations Training. Develops, delivers, and evaluates technical training.
Partners with people leaders and subject matter experts to identify, and close, employees' knowledge and skill gaps
Develops training programs that enable employees to meet compliance requirements
Applies instructional design and adult learning principles to develop in-person trainings, e-courses, webinars, simulations, job aids, tests, and other tools and materials as appropriate
Works with external vendors to identify, and select, training solutions as needed.
Delivers training via in-person classroom sessions, e-courses, webinars, and/or simulations as appropriate
Designs and deploys performance measurement systems to compare and contrast pre-training and post-training levels of performance. Prepares documentation for leaders that illustrate post-training performance changes
Maintains alignment between training activity and the organization's key performance indicators (KPIs).
Works with people leaders to specify and define the target outcomes of training.
Ensures training activities and associated outcomes support specific key performance indicators
Prepares, and delivers, metrics to illustrate training's impact on KPIs
Leads training projects.
Utilizes Operations Training Department templates and processes to develop project plans, timelines, and deliverables for training projects
Assembles teams of subject matter experts and other relevant parties to execute project plans
Serves as point-of-contact for project teams
Provides progress updates and facilitates the dissemination of information throughout the duration of the project
Acts as subject matter expert on training matters and provides guidance regarding training methodology, technologies, and documentation
Provides coaching support to SMEs who conduct training
Manages training sustainment initiatives.
Designs and implements methods for facilitating the transfer of learners' newly acquired skills from training to their jobs
Creates coaching tools to assist people leaders in coaching and reinforcing training on the job
Works with people leaders to mitigate, or respond to, performance shifts that are likely to occur over time after training has been conducted
Devises skill sustainment plans for deployment as new employees come on board
Requirements
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a production environment, or seven to ten (7-10) years relevant experience
Preferably bio-manufacturing/pharmaceutical/Animal Health/food industry, including demonstrated key competencies in training related examples or direct training-related experience in a Pharmaceutical/biological (preferred) or related business (chemicals, food, or other similarly-regulated environment). This experience within the company is preferred over experience external to the company
Project management training / experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and implement solutions to complex problems using the best available technology
Demonstrated ability to gauge the effectiveness of training plans and delivery is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to present information in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message
Demonstrated ability to anticipate information needs and ensure appropriate stakeholders get the correct information
Demonstrated computer skills, specifically with Microsoft products. Prefer experience utilizing a learning management system, as well as Adobe tools (Connect, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Demonstrated professional verbal and written communication skills across diverse workforce with the ability to resolve conflict in a professional manner and influence up, down, and across the organization. Technical writing experience is highly preferred
Physical Demands / Surroundings
Works in an office setting under desirable conditions with few or no disagreeable features. Duties do not require incumbent to exert physical effort beyond normal office conditions. The individual may be required to enter production support areas as well as sterile filling rooms. Some travel may be required
Visual Demands
Must be able to read and see clearly. Vision clarity with or without correction to read handwritten as well as computer-generated documents
Temperaments/Mental Requirements
Position requires the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. May require occasional fast-paced periods to meet deadlines or handle emergencies. Also requires close concentration, the ability to quickly analyze data and good decision making capabilities. Ability to work independently, in a team atmosphere and with employees at all levels
Level of Proficiency
Must have a very high level of proficiency with decision making and verbal and written communication abilities. The position has contact with all levels of internal customers / regulatory authorities and must be able to discuss issues and ideas with an open mind and even temper. Requires the performance of duties which are non standardized Has the capability to ask insightful questions and learn complex processes and offer suggestions to improve performance
