GENERAL FUNCTION:
 The electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard vessels and in the facility.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

• Follow blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Install conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws and thread wires through conduit to terminals such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
• Connect power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment.
• Test electrical characteristics, such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle in circuits using meters and indicators.
• May construct and install instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills, following specifications.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of blueprints and drawings or schematics preferred.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

• Prior experience as an electrician is required, with experience in an industrial or shipyard environment preferred.
