Salary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and
clinical support services for behavioral health issues and wellness
activities, to improve academic / workforce performance, attendance, and
increased overall functioning. Services will be provided at the 111 Poplar
Street Suite 104 office. The position requires the employee to work Fridays
from the Mayfield office. Services may be provided at other Emerald
facilities on an as-needed basis.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for directing all incoming inquiries,
greeting guests, donors, and visitors, and interacting with the public. As
part of the Emerald Team, he/she contributes to the public perception of
the organization, both in person at the front desk and over the telephone.
He/she maintains a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all
times, regardless of the visitor's behavior. As such, the incumbent must be
keenly customer-focused in manner and attitude and be able to assist
individuals with a variety of agency-related inquiries. The Medical Assistant
maintains a therapeutic demeanor when interfacing with clients. This
position comes in contact with confidential information and as such must
maintain the agency’s standard of strict confidentiality.
The Employee will provide, implement, and enforce office policies and
procedures. The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a range of
administrative tasks, including:
● Documenting patients' medical information, including medical
history and health insurance information
● Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within
facility databases and maintaining patient files
● Coordinating daily office activities, greeting patients, and checking
patients in and out for their appointments
● Recording patients' vital signs, documenting physicians' notes and
changes in medical conditions
● Taking tissue and fluid samples and sending them in for laboratory
analysis
● Prepping exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting
practitioners with patient care
● Assisting physicians during routine checkups, outpatient
procedures and other physical exams
● Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians'
review during clinical exams
● Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention, and
assistance during office visits
● Preparing and administering medications under the direction of
supervising physicians or nurse practitioners.
● Maintain staff records

Schedule patients accurately within guidelines and protocols of
practice
● Contact insurance companies for benefits information and obtain
information regarding copayments/deductibles to be collected at
the time of service.
● Contact physician offices for necessary pre-authorizations as
required.
● Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information
acquired concerning the personal, financial, and medical or
employment status of patients and their families.
● Enter correct patient data into the computer terminals and make
corrections to errors in records as necessary
● Perform additional tasks as assigned.
● Ensure patient satisfaction, including troubleshooting when there
is a complaint and developing process improvements to prevent
recurrences.
