Memorial Regional Medical CenterA PICC nurse is a registered nurse who possesses knowledge and skills regarding vascular access. The PICC nurse will demonstrate early and appropriate assessment of patients requiring access via a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) actual placement of the line and act as a resource for post care management while promoting the patient's comfort and well being. The PICC nurse will be responsible for the PICC line policy and procedure development, product evaluation, standardization and data monitoring and ongoing program evaluation (efficiency and effectiveness). She will have experience in insertion and maintenance of PICCs. Additionally, she will serve as a clinical expert, resource and consultant to hospital staff with regard to IV therapy. Care is provided according to professional nursing practice standards, the Infusion Nurses Society Standards of Care, and the Association of Vascular Access.

Job Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia.
- Must maintain current certification in BLS.
- Must have a minimum of 2-5 years of IV therapy and vascular access management.
- Must be PICC certified or within 1 year of hire.
- Communication: Verbal and written skills should facilitate the translation of ideas and facts to persons within and beyond the scope of the specialty and have a willingness to teach.
- Each team members practice is based on: Autonomy and accountability, Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Specific knowledge and understanding of the vascular system and its relation to other body systems, Attainment of skills necessary for the insertion of PICCs and peripheral venous access.
- Must have basic computer knowledge.
