Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Responsible for the administration of specialized care to cardiopulmonary patients in the hospital and upon discharge from the hospital in the out-patient cardiac rehabilitation setting. Participates in cardiovascular education and screening in the Richmond community.

Employment Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Current License to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity.

• BSN required upon hire or within five years of start date.

• Minimum of three years of Cardiac care experience required including care of patient with: cardiac artery bypass, valve surgery, myocardial infarction, LVAD, life vest, PCI/Stents, internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD), pacemaker, heart failure and complex co-morbidities. 

• Critical care experience preferred. Care of chronic respiratory disease.

• Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

• Professional Cardiac Rehab Certification preferred.

• Experienced in acute care cardiology, prevention, and risk-factor intervention.
