Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing various accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records, and manage accounts receivable activities including invoice preparation and customer collections.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in the preparation and posting of general ledger entries, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements, credit card accounts, and other general ledger accounts.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and summaries for management and regulatory agencies.
- Audit Support: Prepare and provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
- Expense Reporting: Manage and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support Role: Provide support for the finance team on various projects and tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software Sage 100 (preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant accounting standards.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
