Book Law LLP, a leading employment law firm in New York City, is seeking an experienced Controller to join our team for three days a week. As we grow, this may grow to a full-time position.
Position Overview:
The Controller will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance. A strong accounting and finance background is essential, with legal industry experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise financial operations and direct planning and strategy.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and billing.
- Conduct audits and provide improvement recommendations.
- Collaborate with partners on financial decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Controller, most preferably in a law firm.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Effective communicator with collaborative abilities.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in QBO, law firm operations software, and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and practice management software.
- Knowledge of trust accounting and legal billing practices.
- Familiarity with financial analysis tools and technology.
