Boone Memorial Health is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Madison, WV

SummaryTo perform maintenance procedures and general mechanical repairs under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance according to hospital policy and procedures
Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly inspection checks for items and equipment in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Follow established safety, security and sanitation practices
  • Repair, install, replace or destroy any and all defective or outdated electrical and plumbing devices/equipment within the hospital on a timely basis
  • Repair, install or replace building materials, items or fixtures as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of safety equipment tests for sprinkler system, smoke detector, devices and pull stations
  • Receive and appropriately respond to verbal, written and electronic requests for service
  • Complete required documentation for service requests
  • Participate/assist with departmental projects as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent patient/staff care information to ensure patient and employee rights are protected
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Keep lawns mowed and neatly trimmed
  • Keep shrubs neatly trimmed and landscaping/flower beds free from weeds
  • Keep all hospital owned or leased properties free from debris
  • Empty trash receptacles regularly and as needed
  • Keep parking lots and sidewalks clear of debris, ice and snow, etc.
  • Perform regular maintenance on all laundry equipment including washers and dryers
  • Perform regular maintenance on buildings such as electrical, plumbing, painting and ceiling/roof repairs

  • None
Physical demands
Ability to perform various motor skills such as: standing/sitting/walking for long periods of time, lifting (up to 60 pounds) using proper lifting techniques, stair climbing, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, grasping and arm-hand coordination on a continuous basis. Exposure to exterior temperatures ranging from 0-100 for extended periods of time. Exposure to outdoor elements such as rain, snow, sleet, high winds. Exposure to electrical systems, sewage & drainage systems (on occasion). Must be able to withstand high heights on occasion, such as walking on the roof of hospital and other buildings owned or leased by Boone Memorial Hospital or use of boom lifts.
Travel required
  • Local travel that is primarily between hospital owned or leased properties
Required Education And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in maintenance repairs
  • Ability to read and write English and follow oral/written directions
  • Ability to multi-task and concentrate with multiple interruptions
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including exposure to outdoor elements, heat, cold, water, grease, chemicals, electric/radiant hazards, noise, odors and unpredictable situations
  • Ability to exhibit courtesy and perform duties with tact and reasonable speed
  • Valid drivers license
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and construction installation, troubleshooting and repairs
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Completion of a vocational education program in maintenance
  • Experience with HVAC (up to 80-ton air conditioners)
  • Experience with Metasys
  • Experience with low pressure water boilers
