Boston Architects and Builders is Hiring a Licensed Architect Near Watertown, MA

WHO WE ARE

Boston Architects & Builders Inc (BAB) is a growing boutique Architect-Led Design-Build (ALDB) firm (yes, that's a thing, check Wikipedia!) focused on sustainable projects ranging from additions, remodels, custom homes and multi-unit developments. We are absolutely passionate about the SYNERGY that takes place when the design team is in sync with the construction crews building the design in the field, delivering an enjoyable, hassle-free experience to our valued clients. We use cutting edge software and tools to create a one-of-a-kind user experience not only for our clients, but also for our own design and build teams, as well as our subcontractors. We have high expectations of our team members and we do compensate them with performance bonuses because we understand we don't succeed without them. Our greatest aspiration, however, is creating a team spirit and a culture of respect where team members take great pride and personal responsibility for their work, and where gossipers and negative talkers quickly weed themselves out. "Technical skills can be taught, but passion and team spirit must be brought."

WHO YOU ARE

Are you tired of wasting your skills and experience on mundane architectural work in a dead-end position at a firm? Or are you tired of the constant battles of running your own operation that can’t seem to get off the ground? If so, let’s talk!

You are a licensed architect with project management experience and possess an entrepreneurial spirit, with great leadership and people management skills, and with high proven proficiency, dedication and passion for the Lead Architect role.

You thrive in creating systems, processes and procedures that forge synergy between design and construction while leaving room for your creative passion for design and sustainability. You enjoy listening to and understanding clients’ needs and can articulate what they want and need even when they can’t. You light up when your design becomes a physical reality, especially under your care. You are great at listening and taking instruction, but you also take responsibility and creatively fill in any gaps you find in projects under your care. You are not afraid to make suggestions, and you always want to learn from mistakes to avoid repeating them. You are bright, emotionally intelligent, and understand what motivates team members, and what helps them grow as they perform at a high level under your care. You’re able to say what needs to be said and do not avoid conflict, while also being respectful. You are able to communicate your expectations and follow through, gaining the respect of team members.

EXPERIENCE OF A STRONG CANDIDATE:

  • Licensed Architect with minimum 7 years experience as project architect
  • Minimum 3 years experience using Revit; very comfortable with digital tools
  • Construction management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Candidates are expected to live in the Boston area (or willing to relocate) as the position requires full-time in-person employment along with project site visits.
  • Cover letter, resume and portfolio required
