The Physical/Occupational Therapist is a seasonal (September-June) part-time, hourly position that works with the lead teacher to help them ensure a safe, challenging, fun, and accessible experience for the students who are a part of the program. This schedule for this position can be rotated throughout the school year in conjunction with other Physical/Occupational Therapists on staff. The Physical/Occupational Therapist is expected to contribute (before and during class time) their clinical experience with the lead teacher’s pedagogical and instructional expertise. The lead teacher and Physical/Occupational Therapist relationship is a merger of educational and clinical expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Be prepared to arrive at the building at least fifteen minutes before class begins and arrive to your studio with students at least five minutes before class begins.
• Class preparation and consistent communication with school, BB staff, and co-teaching colleagues, if applicable.
• Provide in-class physical therapy support to students.
• Offer instructional support to lead teacher to ensure safe and productive movement/activities.
• Give feedback to teachers as necessary regarding movement activities.
• Help teachers to apply student medical and IEP needs to the Adaptive Dance setting.
• Support the teacher with behavior management needs and supports.
• Attend all Boston Ballet staff/faculty meetings and teacher training seminars as scheduled.
• Maintain positive relations with parents and students from all Boston Ballet School and Education & Community Initiatives programs
• Make oneself available for promotional events including, but not limited to, radio, television, and newspaper interviews, including the taking of, and use of, photos for publicity purposes. And allow the use of one’s name and title in printed and other materials.
• Support community engagement and special events through participation at events such as Open Houses
• Be available for student/parent conferences when needed.
• Perform all other duties appropriate to part-time Physical/Occupational Therapist as requested.

Requirements

AVAILABILITY:

The Adaptive Dance Program is a full school year program that runs weekends from September-June . We are seeking percussionists with availability on Saturday mornings in Boston, and/or Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Newton.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Massachusetts Physical/Occupational Therapist license is required.
• Possession of current professional malpractice insurance with liability coverage of no less than $1,000,000 per claim/$2,000,000 aggregate, to cover such liability caused by, or arising out of activities of PT while engaged in the services to the Ballet.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
