Boston Public Schools is Hiring a Partnership Coordinator Near Boston, MA

Boston Adult Technical Academy (BATA) is seeking an extraordinary Partnership Coordinator to work in our school. BATA is an alternative public high school whose mission is to serve students who are overage (typically 19-22), many of whom have experienced life challenges that have impeded their education. In addition, BATA also has a large population of recent immigrants that require intervention to graduate from High School. Working with experienced faculty in an environment that blends strong academics and support, students are given the opportunity to earn a Boston Public Schools diploma and to reach their fullest potential through a curriculum that inspires critical and creative thinking, independent learning, and active citizenship.

Our program, beginning at 9:00am and runs until 3:30 serves students with different academic needs up to age 23, including those who have dropped out of high school and have decided to return to earn a diploma, those who are overage and have recently come to this country, and those who are leaving more traditional high schools for a more innovative model of education.

The Partnership Coordinator (PC) is the hub of BATA's relationships with people and organizations outside of
the school, and makes it possible for stakeholders from all across Boston to support and play key roles in the
learning that takes place at BATA every day.

The PC works closely with staff and students to develop a vision for what the school needs that only a wider
community of partners and partner organizations can provide, and then creates, develops, and sustains those
connections. BATA's partners enliven classroom instruction, expand extracurricular offerings, and provide
much-needed additional resources and social services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Outreach and Marketing
  • Creation and revision of print material and BATA information to help inform and develop a shared understand of the school's mission and vision
  • Routine maintenance of school website with current and relevant information
  • Maintain a regular cadence of school visits to BATA from external partners
    Manage and support the delivery of school exhibitions (public events that highlight student work)
    Write quarterly newsletters for the wider BATA community
Partnership Coordination
  • Create and implement common system for partnership management at the school-level
  • Participate in forums and professional development that deepen knowledge and skills and enables coordination of services
  • Based on needs assessment and identified priorities, facilitate development of partnerships with community-based organizations to provide academic support, mental health, enrichment programs, arts education, internships, summer employment and other services
  • Work closely with community organizations to ensure that students have access to the supports (academic, social emotional, health and wellness, enrichment) they need to be successful
  • Explore creative opportunities to enhance classroom learning through guest- and expert-supported instruction and programming
Career Pathways
  • Support the development of job and career readiness programming at BATA
  • Develop and maintain a Career Guest Speaker Program
  • Support the management of Community Health Worker Career Pathway programming
  • Explore opportunities to develop new career pathway programming with relevant partners
  • Work closely with local universities and colleges to create college preparatory programming
  • Oversee the work of the Workforce Development Advisory Committee
Project Management
  • Work with staff to create collaborative opportunities for partnership at BATA
  • Manage and oversee the development of the Boston Advisory Committee (BEC), an organized group of
  • BATA community members who are invested in the vision and success of the school
  • Manage and oversee the development of an alumni mentorship program
  • Maintain a portfolio of ongoing school-based projects with partners
  • Maintain a database of partnerships and contacts
School Support
  • Connect students and families to community resources
  • Work with teachers to support them in addressing student needs
  • Attend and support all required meetings/planning experiences
All other jobs and responsibilities designated by the Headmaster
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in partnership development or a related role
  • Passion for working with and supporting the students BATA serves
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (graphic design skills a plus)
  • Experience with project management
  • Ability to develop high-quality project plans and public materials
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Must speak a second language, preferably Spanish, Haitian Creole or Cape Verde Creole
  • A team builder who can convene different teams with vision, expertise, and humility
  • Ability to work and maintain multiple projects at once

Terms: Managerial Tier C. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. Occasional weekend and evening work is required.
NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1 and June 30. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school.

School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
