Boston Public Schools is Hiring a Stipend Opportunity: Coordinator of Special Education Near Boston, MA

REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief of Services and Accountability or their designee
STIPEND POSITION OVERVIEW: The Office of Specialized Services (OSS) seeks current BPS Coordinators of Special Education (COSE) to chair IEP processes held during the summer of 2024.
ResponsibilitiesThe Summer Coordinator of Special Educator will be responsible for:
  • Collaborating with the assessment teams to schedule and plan summer TEAM meetings
  • Completing documentation as it relates to the IEP TEAM process
  • Collaborating with OSS to support the completion of IEP documentation
  • Supporting the maintenance and improvement of regulatory compliance
  • Processing referrals and chairing TEAM meetings
  • Writing IEPs for students and securing signatures
  • Chairing any subsequent IEP reconvene meetings
  • Performing other duties related to this job description as required by the Deputy Chief of Services and Accountability or their designee
Terms
  • The expected dates of service for this stipend opportunity are 6/24/24 to 8/9/24.
  • Stipends will be paid on a per student basis once a case is completed and approved by the Deputy Director of Services and Accountability or their designee.
  • Stipends will be paid at the prevailing hourly rate of $56.81/hour up to four (4) hours per case. For cases expected to exceed four (4) hours, please contact the responsible Assistant Director.
  • IEP meeting attendance will be reimbursed per BTU stipend hourly rate of $56.81. If the meeting is not held for any reason, (ex. Not scheduled, not conducted as anticipated due to lack of caregiver attendance), no compensation will be provided. Zoom timestamps must be submitted as proof that the meeting occurred.
QualificationsCurrently working in Boston Public Schools as a COSE;
Preference will be given to COSE who speak an additional language other than English
