Position: Director of Operations

Job Summary

The Director of Operations will directly oversee the Investment Operations and Transaction Services groups and interface with various internal departments to achieve the firm’s business objectives. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations is a key member of our Investor Services team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in investment operations and middle office leadership roles within the investment management industry, with a strong focus on implementing policies and procedures that improve day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day investment operations, including account reconciliations, trade settlements, client billing and reporting, performance measurement, pre-and post-trade compliance, and regulatory reporting.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to direct reports and provide feedback through daily interactions and the firm’s annual goal setting and review process.
  • Support strategic initiatives by owning or participating actively in complex projects, new initiatives, and system improvements.
  • Optimize cross-functional workflows of various client activities, including money and asset movement, account opening, closing and maintenance, data changes, and client audit requests.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and be responsible for providing technology and services to our core operations, including monitoring service levels, maintaining regular contact with vendor contacts and stakeholders, and addressing service concerns when necessary.
  • Work closely with the GIPS Committee to create and monitor the firm’s composites and ensure compliance with GIPS standards.
  • Partner with the Fund Services Department on various projects supporting the firm’s mutual fund and pooled fund business.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement procedures to improve operational processes.
  • Represent the Operations Department in internal and external audits, including preparation activities.
  • Ensure proactive, ongoing assessment of our operational risk environment. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and establish effective controls where needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: BS/BA in a related field.

Length/Tenure: Minimum 15 years of Investment Operations or similar financial services industry experience. Experience should include one or more of the following: supervisory experience, project management, and application support.

Specialized Skills:

  • Demonstrated supervisory and project management skills.
  • Expert level understanding of Investment Operations, Portfolio Accounting, and Performance Reporting.
  • Strong sense of integrity and teamwork, dedicated to high quality standards.
  • Able to interpret and articulate questions, issues, and explanations orally and in writing.
  • Experience in a regulated bank and trust company environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the SS&C Advent product suite (Moxy, APX, Rules Manager, Revenue Center) a plus.

This is a full-time position based in Boston, MA. Boston Trust Walden is currently operating in a hybrid manner with a mix of in-office and remote work. Specifics are dependent upon the team and should be discussed with the hiring manager.
