Under the direction of a radiologist, the CT Technologist performs Computerized
Tomography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of
technical detail. The CT Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that
require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed
ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. This individual is trained and capable of
performing patient care for the age groups: 0 to 105 years old.
The CT Technologist reports directly to CT/MRI Chief Technologist
Responsibilities:1. Responsible for the performance of CT and MR diagnostic procedures. Responsible
for RIS functions as they relate to CT/MRI procedures. Responsible for assisting
Radiologists with procedures as required. Monitoring of sedated patients in
accordance to hospital sedation policy.
2. Responsible for patient, peer and personal safety. Communicates information about
patient examination, schedule, patients condition and equipment to the appropriate
individual.
3. Responsible for inner and intra Departmental relations, i.e., maintains professional
communication.
4. Responsible for conservation of supplies. Monitoring equipment performance status and reports problems to appropriate supervisor.
5. Responsible for continuing education in accordance with ARRT.
Qualifications:1) Education:
a) High school graduate or equivalent.
b) Satisfactory completion of Radiologic training through an accredited Radiologic technology program and an advanced certification in CT.
c) Must have CT certification to be eligible to receive CT pay.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a) CT certification required.
b) Must obtain CT certification within 12 months of the start of CT employment.
3. Work Experience:
a) Two years of experience as a staff technologist preferred.
b) 2nd and 3rd shift must be able to complete both x-ray and CT procedures.
