Minneapolis Bouldering Project Job Description: ADULT PROGRAMS COORDINATOR Hours: Part-time, non exempt Reports to: General Manager, National Manager of Climbing Programs Compensation: DOE The guiding principle behind every decision we make at the Bouldering Project is this — what can we do to make being at our gyms the best experience possible, for every individual who walks through the door. These individuals are serious climbers, recreational climbers and first-time climbers. They are athletes training for marathons and enthusiasts using climbing to reach health and fitness goals. These individuals are also our staff — an amazing, hard working, devoted, driven, inspired and inspiring group of people. Adult Programs Coordinator Our programs embrace the philosophy of growth mindset to develop climbing skills and enrich our MBP community. We accomplish this by offering climbing classes across a range of experience levels, as well as small-group and 1:1 private instruction. The Adult Programs Coordinator develops, directs, and schedules all aspects of adult programming at the Minneapolis Bouldering Project including Intro, Learn to Climb, and Intermediate climbing classes, and coordinates with coaches to arrange private instruction sessions. They will work closely with the Youth Programs Coordinator and Tyler Williams to ensure that adult instruction at MBP is serving our community with engaging, supportive, and challenging programs. In addition to the administrative responsibilities inherent to this role, the Adult Programs Coordinator is expected to facilitate programming to better understand the curriculum, culture, and protocol of MBP adult programming, General Responsibilities PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND DIRECTION Initiate continued development of fun and innovative programming and curricula for adults. Communicate with participants and instructors to ensure quality programming. Shadow and debrief courses with Youth Programs instructors to ensure program quality and support staff development. Develop infrastructure for an Adult Climbing League (in collaboration with Tyler Wililams). PRIVATE INSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION Launch and maintain 1:1 and small-group private climbing instruction. Collaborate with coaches to effectively and efficiently schedule private sessions. Collaborate with Kate J for 1:1 private fitness instruction. Hire, train, and develop private coaches and instructors. PROGRAM MARKETING AND OUTREACH Collaborate with the General Manager and Community Marketing Manager to align and implement marketing strategies. Set goals for registration and quality of programming, and strategize ways to reach those goals. STAFF MANAGEMENT Collaborate with scheduling managers to schedule staff via organized, economical, and efficient staffing systems. Hire and train adult program staff. Maintain employee motivation and job satisfaction via dynamic leadership and support. Communicate with staff to understand availability and share scheduling. Maintain discipline and professionalism among staff. Ensure staff quality by participating in assessment and evaluation. Communicate with managers, coordinators and staff, as needed, to ensure staff quality. LOGISTICS Develop and maintain organized, clean, and efficient logistics, registration, and payment systems. Ensure that facilities and equipment remain clean, functioning, and high quality. Introduce and maintain staff support tools. COLLABORATION Work with the management team on decisions that impact the staff, community and gym. Collaborate with colleagues in other departments to devise innovative programming. Work with the Head Setter to maintain appropriate climbing in our dedicated youth climbing areas. RISK MANAGEMENT Serve as staff lead (with General Manager and key staff) to support Risk Management in Adult Programs. Support incident reporting and reviews, safety reviews, emergency scenarios, and policy-writing. Act as Incident leader in an emergency. Ensure all programs have sufficient emergency support through systems and notification sequences. Other DutiesOccasionally serve as Coach, Instructor, or other roles as needed. Other duties as assigned. INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS It is imperative to maintain excitement about the culture and community of Youth at the Minneapolis Bouldering Project. The Program Coordinator is at the forefront of this aspect of the gym. Program Coordinators lead the staff in supporting the Minneapolis Bouldering Project community and must conduct themselves accordingly. Working Conditions Many duties require the availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including possible evenings and weekends.
