HYBRID | FULL TIME
Boulo Solutions is partnering with a non profit in Birmingham, AL looking to hire an Accounts Payable/Payroll Specialist to join their small team.

Flexibility: In Office to start then hybrid 1 day a week (office in West Homewood)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $36,000-44,000

The Payroll/AP Specialist is responsible for performing all tasks necessary to accomplish payroll processing and accounts payable objectives.
Specific duties include managing the Payroll process in a professional and knowledgeable manner, processing Accounts Payable expenses, and managing all utility and vendor payments as required. The successful candidate will have a desire to use their skills to help create high-performing Payroll/AP services focused on supporting a world-class program.
Primary Responsibilities:Payroll:
  • Time sheet reconciliation and processing of Head Start payroll
  • Assist the Sr. Accountant with the annual 5500 report
  • Work closely with Sr. Accountant in processing final paychecks, direct deposit, account reconciliations, benefit auditing, and various other projects
  • Assisting employees with payroll issues
  • Additional duties as assigned
Accounts Payable:
  • Enter all operations accounts payable on a weekly basis
  • Review, and process all Head Start accounts payable on a weekly basis
  • Process a weekly or semimonthly check/ach run as needed to meet due dates
  • Maintain Head Start accounts payable files including obtaining current W-9’s and assisting with the processing 1099’s annually
  • Independently manage all day-to-day activities related to Head Start accounts payable, credit card use, cash disbursements and ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • An Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a minimum of two years’ experience which includes account payable processing, human resources and administrative duties, preferably in the nonprofit arena
  • A minimum of two (2) years of Payroll experience required;
  • Payroll Specialist background preferred with some experience in the areas of compensation, benefits, tax filings, electronic timekeeping, direct deposit maintenance, and garnishments; prior experience working in Head Start or early childhood education or related field a plus.
  • Preferred two (2) years experience accounts payable processing
  • Be able to successfully navigate nonprofit accounting software and have recent and relevant experience with spreadsheet, word processing and database applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated to carry out responsibilities independently, pay close attention to detail and accuracy and be able to meet deadlines
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position
  • Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions
  • Valid driver's license and regular access to vehicle covered by liability insurance with limits of $100,000/$300,000
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Experience working in automated payroll
  • Superior time and project management skills
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Strong computer literacy skills MS Office, Google apps, and internet navigation
  • Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines
