Summary:

A client company of Bowers CPA's and Advisors located in Central New York is a distribution company (northern suburb of Syracuse) has an opening for a CFO. The responsibilities and qualifications for successful candidates is listed below.

Responsibilities:

The Chief Financial Officer will manage all financial aspects of the business, including financial reporting, cash management, internal audits, internal controls, tax compliance and IT System oversight. The CFO sets the company’s financial policy and direction while managing day to day accounting duties to include oversight of the financial department.

Specific job duties will include:

  • Analyze, forecast and project financial trends;
  • Create and monitor an annual budget;
  • Monitor daily cash receipts & expenses;
  • Ensure proper posting transactions to accounts on the general ledger;
  • Supervision and preparation of interim and annual financial statements internally;
  • Supervision of monthly creation of budget to actual P&L statement and explanation of variances;
  • Oversee collections process of accounts receivable;
  • Monitor and at times approve creation of orders, contracts and all expenses;
  • Monitor receipt of invoices from vendors and verification of charges on invoices;
  • Monitor check preparation process - receive, verify and process internal check requests;
  • Oversee payroll;
  • Prepping and/or reviewing tax information to outside accountants;
  • Oversee internal audit goals, steps, execution, and evaluation, ensuring internal controls are suitable for the business.
  • Manage bank relationships and Treasury Function.
  • Manage technical aspects of the company’s IT system.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS in business, accounting or related field, MBA or CPA is a plus;
  • 7-15 years in a financial management role;
  • Experience in and knowledge of cash basis and accrual basis accounting;
  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications;
  • Leadership qualities, results oriented, analytical and abstract reasoning skills;
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including expertise with Microsoft Office applications

Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
