Managed Services System Engineer

The Managed Services System Engineer is primarily responsible for working on the backend administration and escalated support issues at our HQ. All our engineers are responsible for maintaining user uptime and improving their computing experiences through effective maintenance, problem identification and resolution activities, as well as growing and developing the organization’s perception with existing customers through exceptional customer service.

The Managed Services System Engineer must be energetic and focused with a strong motivation to learn new technologies and management and maintenance processes. The Managed Services System Administrator position requires dedication, persistence, effective utilization of provided resources and the ability to deliver superior customer service.

We are seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer to join our collaborative team onsite. This role will play a crucial part in bridging the gap between Help Desk Level 1 & 2 engineers and the Senior Solutions Architect. Responsibilities:

-Provide 80% escalated support/administration and 20% project assistance, acting as a key resource in resolving technical issues and executing projects with a team

-Handle escalations effectively, with a balanced workload of 50% support and 50% escalations.

-Address escalations, including BCDR (Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery) incidents, critical errors, failed events from backups, file and folder restoration, and virtual environment remediation.

-Ensure the smooth operation of systems through routine maintenance and detailed documentation for Server Administration (OS, AD, GPO),

-Act as a champion for necessary System Upgrades, conducting thorough research and preparing documentation to support Project Plan Deliverables

-Utilize expertise in virtualization (VMware), including troubleshooting and optimizing space, storage, and CPU utilization.

-Manage and maintain the Datto product line, including backup and recovery solutions.

-Demonstrate proficiency in email security, firewall management, and endpoint security.

-Support M365 environment, focusing on SharePoint administration, license and subscription management, and addressing critical issues.

-Troubleshoot, deploy, and manage firewalls, with a decent understanding of networking components (Sophos shop).

-Provide general support for client-specific technology, particularly within the Manufacturing vertical, encompassing SAAS-based and on-premise products.

Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless operations and client satisfaction.

Requirements:

-Previous experience in a similar role, with a hunger for growth and learning.

-Mid-level or higher familiarity with virtualization (VMware).

-Strong understanding of network troubleshooting, firewall management, and networking components.

-Proficiency in M365, including license and subscription management.

-Experience with data recovery and backup recovery solutions.

-Familiarity with the Datto product line is preferred.

-COMPTIA certifications are highly desirable.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

-Capacity to manage both support tasks and project responsibilities efficiently.

-Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle escalations with composure.
